Bitter disappointment pushed tears from her eyes." Now what's wrong? I said you could wear it." She drew in a shaky breath." I w-wanted you to l-like my dreeessssss." He moved his gaze over her." The gown makes my mouth water, love.

About This Quote

"I w-wanted you to l-like my dreeessssss," is a little girl trying to get her father's attention. Her father had just returned home from work and she had been waiting for him for a long time. He finally came into the room and she ran up to him and asked him what he thought of her dress. The problem is, the dress was absolutely beautiful and she wanted him to notice it.

But, instead of saying something nice, he got angry with her for expecting him to like the dress. His words had unintentionally made her feel bad about herself, so she started crying and asked him what was wrong with her. He told her that he liked her dress and that she should wear it often.

He then said that it made his mouth water and that he wanted some of the food that she had prepared for their dinner. She looked down at her plain dress, which she had worn every day since school began, and decided that maybe he did like it after all.
